Welcome to the memorial page for

Donald Glenn Hoffamn

January 17, 1950 ~ April 29, 2017 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Donald Glenn “Don” Hoffman, 67, Duncansville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday at his residence.

He was born in Altoona, son of late Donald E. and Thelma M. (Allison) Hoffman.

Surviving are his loving family: his wife of 10 years, Debra, with whom he would have celebrated their wedding anniversary on May 20, 2017; five children: Dawn, Katherine, Jean, Sharon and Frank; seven grandchildren: Dillon, Nathan, Bayley, Jaylyn, Mason, Sophia and Lincoln; three siblings: Gary, Deborah and Ken; and countless friends, too many to list, who were family just the same.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, James Donald; and a brother, Melvin.

Don was a 1967 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in September 1967. He proudly served during the Vietnam War, earning the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Air Force Good Conduct Medal for his dedication and service. He later had a rewarding career at ABF Freight, retiring in 2008.

He will be most remembered for his desire to live each day to the fullest. Whether he was heading to Florida in his RV, riding his motorcycle, taking his boat to Lake Raystown or playing his guitar, Don was always planning his next adventure. He most loved spending time with family and friends who remember him as fun-loving, down-to-earth and always reliable. He will be missed beyond words by all who knew him.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home, 1520 Fourth St., Altoona.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 967, 2907 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
