Edith F. (Sellers) Geist

Edith F. Geist, 82, passed away peacefully at her home, Wednesday Sept. 19, 2018. She was born in Warrior’s Mark, to the late Robert and Estella (Lytle) Sellers. She married Theodore P. Geist who preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 2011.

Surviving are two sons: Jeffrey (Sharon) Geist and Christopher Geist, both of Altoona; a son-in-law: Jeffrey Stanchek; seven grandchildren: Daniel Mainello, Sarah and Devin Stanchek, Jordan, Paige, Brianna, and Christopher Geist; a sister: Carol Koch of Altoona; and a brother Robert Sellers of Altoona.

Edith was a 1953 Altoona High School graduate. She was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church. She worked as the Supervisor for the shipping and receiving department at Gables Department Store. She volunteered at the Altoona Food Bank, helped out at many church events, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Cynthia Stanchek on June 3, 2016 and two sisters: Shirley Carson and Betty Janetta.

Friends will be received from 12pm until the 1pm service Monday, Sept. 24, 2018 at the Axe and Santella Family Chapel, 1534-4th St., Altoona. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Central PA Humane Society.
