Evelyn Lorraine “Sis” Sederes, 82, Altoona, passed away Sunday at her residence after a brief illness.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late George and Teresa (Moore) Krause. On March 22, 1957, she married Thomas A. Sederes at Fairview Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 2011.

Surviving are two daughters: Thomasa Jo (David) Palmer of Altoona and Jami Sederes, with whom she resided; a son, David P. (Susan) Sederes of York Haven; four grandchildren: Tobias Palmer, Alec Sederes, Madison Sederes and Bela Sederes; two great-grandchildren: Athena Palmer and David Palmer; and a special dog, Teddy.

Evelyn was a graduate of Altoona High School, and she earned a nursing degree from Hahnemann University of Philadelphia and St. Joseph’s College of Maine. In 1995, she retired from Altoona Hospital as vice-president of nursing.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, reading and fishing.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home, Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at the Axe and Santella Family Chapel, 1534 Fourth St., Altoona, the Rev. Peggy Spengler officiating. Interment will be at Spring Hope Cemetery, Martinsburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Sis’s name be give to American Heart Association.
