Ellen M. Stevens, 83, of Altoona, passed away Wednesday morning at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late George C. and Alice M. (Faust) Black. On March 27, 1999, she married William Stevens and he preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2003.
She is survived by 4 daughters: Kathryn (Tim) Hensal, Monica (fiance, Bill Pfahler) Stevens, Lori (Rick) McCulloch, and Billie Jo (Ken Sr.) Tilson; a very special son, George Settlemeyer; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; a step-daughter, Autumn Lynn; a sister, Katherine Waite; an adopted daughter, Bonnie Neely; and a very special nephew and wife, Melvin (Kelly) Dick.
Ellen was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelda Jean; a step-son, Billy Stevens; two sisters: Alice Focht and Judith Dick; two brothers: David Black and Herbert Black Sr.
Ellen was a homemaker for her family. She enjoyed playing Bingo, eating raisin filled cookies and spending time with her entire family.
Friends will be received from 2-4pm and 7-9pm Tuesday, June 21, 2022 in the Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home, 1520-4th St. Altoona and also from 10am until the 11am funeral service on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 in the Axe and Santella Family Chapel, 1534-4th St. Altoona. Committal will be at Grandview Cemetery.
