Obituary

George W. Carnell, 56, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Shadyside. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Donald Knott and Barbara Shoop. He later married Lucia Steinbeiser.

He is survived by his loving wife; five children: Chad Hoover, Brett Giuliano, Cierra Carnell, Gage Carnell, and Payge Carnell; three siblings: Donald Carnell, Vera Delozier, and Joseph Knott; and an aunt, Cynthia Nale.

George was a 1984 Altoona High School graduate. For 32 years he worked as a prep cook at Red Lobster and also spent 30 years at Dino’s Pizza.

He enjoyed watching wrestling, vacations to Florida, and spending time with his family and friends.

In George’s eyes, family was above all else.

Friends will be received from 3pm to 5pm Friday, Sept. 2, 2022 in the Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 5pm.
