James G. Gosnell, 78, of Altoona passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family . He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Ernest B. and Gladys E. (Grove) Gosnell. On July 30, 1966 he married Barbara Martin.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Barbara; a son, Richard Gosnell, of Dysart; a daughter, Cindy (Kevin) Boslet, of Altoona; and three grandchildren: Brittany (Patrick), Jessica (James) and Allison (Logan) Boslet; brother in law, Richard (Karen) Martin; special nieces and nephews; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by siblings: Richard, Martha Harten, and Ronald; sister in law, Lucille (Ray) Marsico; and niece, Lynley (Martin) Fausnet.
Jim was a 1960 graduate of Altoona High School and went on to work for Bell Telephone and Don Young Plumbing Company in his early years and then went on to have his own construction business, Gosnell Construction Company.
He served in the US Army Reserves.
He was a former member of 4th Lutheran Church and member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata where he served on the Church Council and served as head of the building committee. He was also a member of the Bavarian Aide Society.
Jim enjoyed Fishing, Golf, Bowling and spending time with his family and pups. He was also a master plumber, contractor, custom cabinet builder, and millworker. Jim used all of these talents to help beautify not only his own church, but numerous buildings in the area.
Family and friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 10 am. Pastor Eli Hess Officiating.
The public is encouraged to wear masks and social distance while in the church.
