Janet L. (Steurer) Skonier

Janet L. Skonier, 90, Hollidaysburg, passed away Tuesday at the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg. She was born in Altoona, son of the late George F. and Dorothy B. (Shugarts) Steurer.

She married Harold E. Skonier on Jan. 20, 1950, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 2012. 

She is survived by a son, Richard (Kathy) Skonier, of Altoona; a granddaughter, Renee Skonier, of Arlington, Va.; and three wonderful nieces: Kathy (Mike) Glashauser, LeeAnn (Bill) Lightner and Connie (Pat) Counsman. 

She was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Imler. 

Janet was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School and later retired from Stroehmann’s Bakery as an office manager. 

She was a member of the Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries and the Altoona Public Library.  

Janet was a member of 2nd Lutheran Church in Altoona, and later, Zion Lutheran Church in Hollidaysburg.  

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home, 1520 Fourth St., Altoona. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Janet to Zion Lutheran Church, 500 Allegheny St. Hollidaysburg PA 16648.
