Jennie A. (Zimmerman) Amrhein, 77, Altoona, passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2019 at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late William H. and Martha Esther (Streightiff) Zimmerman. She later married Roy George Amrhein on Aug. 1, 1960 and he preceded her in death in 2015.
She is survived by 2 sons: Roy Galen (Dawn) and William (Jim); a daughter: Debi (Robin); a sister: Marie Nivens; 2 grandsons: Roy Gene (Kayla) and Matthew (Laura); 2 great-grandsons: Benjamin and Colin; a brother in law, F. Gene Amhrein, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Edward and “Bud.”
Jennie was a very loving and devoted mother. She supported and attended all of her children’s events. She spent much of her life in leadership for Cub and Boy Scouts in the area. Besides fishing and Pinochle, her greatest hobby was Genealogy, holding offices at the Blair County Genealogical Society.
Friends will be received from 4pm until the 6pm memorial service Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019 at the Axe and Santella Family Chapel, 1534-4th St. Altoona.
