Karen L. Sponsler, 67, Altoona passed away Wednesday at her home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late George and Hazel (Sine) Sponsler.
She is survived by a daughter, Joselynn (Joshua) Sponsler; two sons: Josiah Sponsler and Jarett (Shania) Sponsler; 7 grandchildren: Julian Sponsler, Hailee Sponsler, Lucy Damiano, Liam Wolf, Wyatt Sponsler, Kinlei Sponsler, Lexi Wolf, and baby boy, Levi Wolf, on the way; two sisters: Bonnie Shaner and Dora “Dorrie” Sponsler; 6 brothers: Alan Clossin, Larry Beam, Jeff Sponsler, Dana Sponsler, David (Mary Beth) Sponsler and Robert (Charlene) Sponsler; many nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Sandra McFarland.
Karen was a 1973 graduate of Altoona High School and was a bartender at various bars in Altoona.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and socializing with friends at local establishments. She always had an open door for anyone who needed help. She will be remembered for her kindness and love for her family.
Friends will be received from 5pm until the 7pm funeral service on Tuesday March 14, 2023 at the Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home, 1520-4th St. Altoona PA 16601, with Pastor Matthew Burns officiating. Interment will be at Alto Reste Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Catholic War Vets, 290 Valley Ave, Altoona, PA 16601, from 2pm to 5:30pm on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
