Robert “Bobby” Cummings ll, 63, of Altoona, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024, as the result of a car accident. He was born in Altoona, son of Iris (Swanger) and the late Robert “Bob” Cummings.
Bobby is survived by his daughter, Christina (Rob) McMullen, of Altoona. He was the very proud grandfather of Roman, who lovingly called him “Pappy Football.” Bobby is also survived by his siblings: Louise (Etienne) Runge, of Costa Mesa, CA, and John (Nanette) Cummings, of Altoona; and nieces and nephews: Michele (Chris) Hoyle, Alex Cummings, Aaron Cummings and Addison (Sam) Ference.
Bobby proudly served in the United States Army from 1985 – 1993. He was enlisted in the 101st Air Assault Unit. He was stationed in South Korea; Fort Hood, TX, and Fort Campbell, KY. He later worked at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center in Altoona. Prior to joining the Army, he was employed at Tritex Sportswear. Bobby turned his love of people, driving and travel into a job. He was a driver for Uber and liked being able to meet new people every day. He enjoyed hearing stories as well as telling stories, and thought it was the best way to share life experiences.
Bobby was a friend to all and would have a conversation with anyone he met. He loved catching up with old friends and meeting new people. It was very rare to go somewhere with Bobby and he not run into someone he knew… and he loved it! Bobby was an animated story/joke teller and was able to get crowds of all ages laughing. He was an avid sports enthusiast, especially for all things Penn State, Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers related. Most recently, Bobby enjoyed traveling to Florida to visit friends, attend concerts and enjoy the sunshine.
Over the years, Bobby turned his love of people, sporting events and concerts into his job. While attending these events, he started selling tickets and created his brand, “Bobby Tickets.” He was known and loved from Pittsburgh to State College. He loved what he did and made many life-long friends along the way. He got much joy out of bringing his family to PSU tailgates, football and hockey games, and taking his parents to Pirates games. He also loved going to his grandson Roman’s baseball and football games.
Bobby was a true gem. His jokes, storytelling and love for life will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
