Wayne H. McGeary Sr., 84, Altoona, passed away Sunday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Riggles Gap, son of the late Melvin and Lillian (Gault) McGeary. On Feb. 17, 2000, he married Linda Ravenscraft.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; a daughter, Wendy McGeary; two sons: John Weindler and Joey McGeary; three grandchildren: Christopher, Kali and Donnie; great-granddaughter, Cora Lynn Watson; and four siblings: Betty Bridges, Lavina Walters, Minnie Lunger and Danny McGeary.
Wayne was preceded in death by a son, Wayne H. McGeary Jr.; first wife, Linda Oswalt; siblings: Melvin “Jake” Jr., Judith Potts, Connie McGeary, Robert McGeary and Vivian Calhoun; and the mother of his children, and second wife of 24 years, Janet Beauchamp.
Wayne was a 1956 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School. He worked for Penske’s Trucking Company in Florida as a tractor and trailer driver. He later retired from Altoona Pipe and Steel with 20 years of service.
Wayne was a former member of the Bellwood VFW.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, in the Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home, 1520 Fourth St., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, in the Axe and Santella Family Chapel, 1534 Fourth St., Altoona. Committal will be at Logan Valley Cemetery.
