Justin R. Showalter, 36, Altoona, passed away Monday at UPMC Canterbury Place, Pittsburgh, after an extended illness.

He was born in Altoona, son of Susan K. (Patterson) Showalter and the late William R. Showalter Sr.

Surviving are his mother; a brother, William R. Showalter Jr. (Leslie); two nephews; a niece; a very special aunt, Denise; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a very close friend, Robert Broadwater.

Robert was an Altoona Area High School graduate. He worked as a prep cook at Perkins Restaurant.

He was a member of Champion Life Church in Altoona.

Justin loved fishing, baseball and football, especially the Miami Dolphins.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 11, 2018, at Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home, 1520 Fourth St., Altoona, and from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at The Axe and Santella Family Chapel, 1534 Fourth St., where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Pastor James Baldwin officiating. Interment will be held at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
